Your questions, answered.
Is this judged by experts?
No. The winner is determined by valid paid votes. The award does not establish scientific superiority, clinical effectiveness, safety or regulatory approval.
Does the $100 application include a vote?
Yes. One successful $100 application payment includes one vote for that entry. It is counted once, not as two payments or two votes. Additional votes cost $100 each.
Can someone buy more than one vote?
Yes. Each additional $100 purchases one vote for the selected applicant. This is a paid popularity vote, not one-person-one-vote; spending can affect the ranking. Purchases remain subject to the Official Rules and payment checks.
Will the prize increase?
The guaranteed baseline cash prize is $5,000. GO Vertical ICM may announce increases up to US$25,000 as the campaign develops. The maximum is not guaranteed, and buying a vote does not promise a particular prize increase. The $4,800 Strategic Discovery Process is a separate noncash benefit.
What is the Strategic Discovery Process?
The Strategic Discovery Process is GO Vertical ICM’s advisory service, valued at US$4,800. We work with the winning inventor or startup to assess the innovation’s current stage, clarify its goals, identify key gaps and priorities, and develop a practical roadmap for what comes next. Depending on the innovation, this can include planning around technical feasibility, intellectual property, regulatory requirements, validation and commercial readiness. The final service scope and deliverables are set out in the Official Rules.
This service is awarded in addition to the cash prize. The primary winner receives at least $5,000 in cash, plus the separate US$4,800 Strategic Discovery Process. The service value is not deducted from the cash award and is not an additional cash payment. The process helps guide next steps; it does not guarantee funding, patent protection, regulatory approval or commercial success.
Can I apply or pay now?
Applications and voting open October 1, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. UTC−5 and close December 31, 2026 at 11:59:59 p.m. UTC−5. UTC−5 is the fixed time benchmark throughout the award period. Entries and voting payments are accepted only during this period.
Are application and voting payments refundable?
Application fees and voting payments are nonrefundable for change of mind, voluntary withdrawal, mistaken applicant selection, dissatisfaction with rankings or failure to win. Exceptions apply where required by law and for duplicate charges, undelivered entries or votes, or organizer cancellation without awarding the promised primary prize. Read the Payment & Refund Terms below.
When will my votes appear?
We verify successful payments and update vote totals manually. Votes do not appear instantly. The standings show when they were last updated and remain provisional until final verification.

Application fees and votes
A US$100 application fee is required to complete your entry and includes one vote for your innovation, subject to eligibility. Each additional US$100 purchases one vote for the selected candidate. Supporters may purchase multiple votes. Payments are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. The highest verified valid paid-vote total determines the primary winner; payment does not guarantee an award or a particular increase in the cash prize.
Only successful payments matched to the correct candidate and purchased quantity count. The application’s included vote is counted once. Totals are verified and updated manually, so they do not appear instantly. Review the candidate, quantity, currency and total shown at checkout before paying, and keep your receipt.
Nonrefundable payments
Application fees and voting payments are nonrefundable, except where required by applicable law or under the exceptions below. No discretionary refund is provided for change of mind, voluntary withdrawal, mistaken candidate selection, dissatisfaction with rankings, failure to collect votes or failure to win.
- Verified duplicate charges will be corrected or refunded.
- If a valid payment does not deliver the purchased entry or votes, we will correct the issue where possible and lawful, or refund the affected payment.
- If GO Vertical ICM cancels the award without awarding the promised primary prize, affected application and voting payments will be refunded.
- If an entry or vote cannot be accepted because the organizer’s eligibility or location controls failed, the affected payment will be reviewed for correction or refund under applicable law.
Refunds are returned through the original payment method where practicable. Refunded or reversed payments do not count toward valid vote totals. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory cancellation, withdrawal, refund or payment-dispute rights.
