The Clinical and Product Challenge
Premature infants can spend weeks or months in neonatal intensive care units, where alarms, respiratory equipment and routine clinical activity create an auditory environment very different from the filtered soundscape of the womb. Sonura Care is developing the Sonura Beanie, a neonatal wearable intended to reduce disruptive high-frequency sound while allowing parents to share filtered recordings of their voices, songs and heartbeats.
The opportunity sits at the intersection of neonatal safety, human-centered design, electronics, soft goods, clinical workflow and medical-device development. Progress therefore required more than a compelling concept: the company needed a structured pathway that could connect stakeholder requirements, technical decisions, risk, evidence generation, regulatory planning, manufacturing and commercialization.
A Sequential Development Pathway
